This tried and tested recipe makes the BEST vegan brownies, with a rich chocolate flavor, fudgy center, and shiny, crackly tops. Made without eggs, flaxseed, or aquafaba!

vegan chocolate

almond milk

cocoa powder

baking  powder

all purpose flour

vegan butter




step 1

Add the vegan butter, almond milk and vegan chocolate chips to a microwave safe bowl.

Melt the mixture in the microwave (or stovetop) until slightly simmering. Then add the sugar.

Whisk the mixture for 1 minute until the sugar is dissolved. Don't skip this step- it's what gives the vegan brownies their shiny top!

Add the cocoa powder, vanilla, instant espresso and vinegar, then mix to combine.

step 5

Add the flour, baking powder and salt. Then mix until just combined.


Transfer to a parchment lined square baking pan and bake at 350 for 36-38 minutes.


The top should look shiny when baked! A toothpick inserted should remove with just a few moist crumbs.


Let the brownies cool, then slice into squares!
