This easy homemade vegan cornbread is super moist, perfectly sweet, buttery, and slices beautifully. It makes the best side dish. One bowl and ready in 30 minutes.

vegan butter

oat milk



baking soda

baking powder

step 1

Mix the oat milk and vinegar together to make dairy free buttermilk. Set aside to curdle for 5 mins.

Add the flour, cornmeal, sugar, salt, baking soda & powder to a large mixing bowl.

Mix the dry ingredients until combined and make a well in the center.

Pour the melted vegan butter and prepared dairy free buttermilk into the well.

step 5

Whisk for 1-2 minutes to form the batter. The batter may look thin at first but after whisking it will thicken.

step 6

Pour the batter into a prepared baking dish or greased cast iron skillet.


Bake for 22 minutes at 400F or until a toothpick comes out with a few crumbs.


Let cool, then slice and serve with vegan butter or a drizzle of agave.
