These Vegan Steamed Tofu Buns are filled with green onions, cilantro, and a hoisin marinated tofu filling. They can be pan-fried after steaming!

step 1

Make the tofu filling by mixing the marinade ingredients and marinating the tofu.

step 2

Sauté tofu until golden brown. Reduce the marinade then toss the tofu back to coat it.

step 3

Make the dough for the bao. Let it rise in a warm place 1 1/2 hours until doubled in size.

step 4

Once risen, punch the dough down and divide it into 20 pieces to make the baos.

step 5

Fill the dough disk with filling. Fold together at the top and twist to form a cylindrical bun.

step 6

Steam for about 18 minutes.

If you'd like to pan-fry your buns, dip bottoms in water then dip in sesame seeds. Pan-fry for 2-3 minutes.
