This easy homemade vanilla syrup is ready in just 10 minutes, tastes just like Starbucks, and can be used to add flavor to coffee, lattes, tea, cocktails, cakes & more.

You can use vanilla bean pods, vanilla bean paste, or pure vanilla extract.

step 1

Add the sugar and water to a small pot over medium heat.

If using a vanilla bean pod, split in in half, and add it now.

step 3

Whisk together and bring to a simmer. Cook for 5-10 minutes until slightly thickened.

step 4

Remove from the heat. Stir in the vanilla extract or paste if using. Transfer to a glass measuring cup.

step 5

Let cool completely at room temperature.


Transfer the syrup to a clean glass container. Once cooled, store in the fridge.
