These easy vegan waffles are crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside.  They're completely dairy-free and eggless thanks to a homemade vegan buttermilk and flax 'egg'.

step 1

Add the vinegar to the dairy free milk to make vegan buttermilk.

step 2

Add water to ground flaxseed to make a flax egg.

step 3

Add the dry ingredients to a large bowl, mix, and make a well in the center.

step 4

Add the wet ingredients (vegan buttermilk, flax egg, oil and vanilla).

step 5

Whisk to combine and form a waffle batter.

step 6

Preheat and grease the waffle iron. Add the batter and cook until golden.

Serve immediately with your favorite toppings like vegan butter and maple syrup!
