Mix ½ cup of the warm almond milk and half of the sugar into a small bowl. Add yeast and let it sit for 10 mins.

Cream the remaining sugar with the vegan butter. Add the liquid ingredients, nutmeg and salt.

Add the flour to the liquid mixture, 1 cup at a time, stirring until it forms a soft dough.

Knead for 4 minutes until the outer surface is smooth. Oil a bowl and place the ball in it. Let it rise for 1 ½ hours.

Roll the dough out into a rectangle about ¾ of an inch thick. Cut out the donut dough using a glass or a cutter.
