This iced apple crisp nondairy cream chai latte is made with velvety oat milk and a sweet spiced chai tea concentrate. It has the best dairy-free sweet cream on top flavored with a homemade apple brown sugar syrup.
📝 Why You’ll Love This Apple Crisp Cream Chai Latte:
- Taste: Like fall in a cup. Sweet with hints of apple and cinnamon.
- Texture: Smooth and creamy from the oat milk and homemade apple sweet cream. Plus, nice and cold from the fresh ice cubes.
- Difficulty: Easy!
- Time: About 15-20 minutes, including making the syrup. If you make the syrup ahead of time, it only takes a couple of minutes to make the chai latte.
- Why We Love This Drink: Just like my Pumpkin Cream Chai Latte, this iced oat milk chai latte with apple sweet cream is so tasty. I’m definitely a coffee person, but I do love a good chai latte when autumn rolls around, especially as a mid-afternoon pick me up. I love that this iced chai tastes just like your local coffee shop drink but doesn’t require leaving the house!
Ingredients:
This recipe uses just a handful of simple ingredients. Like with many recipes that only use a few ingredients, the quality of the ingredients can make a big difference in the flavor.
Homemade Apple Crisp Sweet Cream
This recipe is inspired by the Starbucks sweet cream which is traditionally made with a combination of heavy cream, vanilla syrup, and 2% milk. This combination creates a delightful, creamy sweetness that’s hard to resist.
They recently created a nondairy sweet cream which is amazing. It’s made with a combination of oat milk and soy milk. To make the sweet cream at home, you can actually use a variety of dairy free milks. My favorite is coconut milk because it is so thick and creamy. I like to mix it with a bit of barista oat milk or soy milk to help it froth up.
Ingredient Notes & Substitutions
- Coconut Milk, Extra Creamy Barista Style Oat Milk or Heavy Cream: Full fat coconut milk gives the cream a luscious texture, however it does have a slight taste. I love the hint of coconut in this chai latte, but for those who don’t like coconut, opt for an extra creamy oat milk.
- Homemade Apple Brown Sugar Syrup: This apple crisp syrup made with apple juice, brown sugar, cinnamon sticks, a pinch of salt and a touch of vanilla extract.
- Chai Tea Concentrate: You can use the Starbucks boxed version, but just an FYI- if you’re vegan it contains honey. I used one by Good and Gather from Target which doesn’t contain honey.
📌 A Note About Chai Tea: Chai tea concentrate can be found at your local grocery store in the coffee and tea aisle. It’s a blend of black tea, spices, and often sweeteners to create the characteristic spicy and flavorful base for chai lattes. Keep in mind, the concentrate you use will have a big impact on the overall flavor and sweetness of the drink.
- Oat Milk or Milk of Choice: Oat milk adds a creamy texture to the latte, but you can substitute with your preferred milk.
- Ice: For an iced chai.

🍎 *Ingredient Quantities are in the Recipe Card Below!*
To Make the Apple Crisp Syrup:
STEP 1: Whisk together the brown sugar, apple juice or juice concentrate, cinnamon sticks, and pinch of salt in a small saucepan.
STEP 2: Simmer on low heat for 5-10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Don’t let the syrup rapidly boil. The syrup should begin to thicken.
STEP 3: Remove from the heat and add the vanilla extract. Let cool completely at room temperature. The syrup will continue to thicken as it cools. Once cool, you can remove the cinnamon sticks and transfer to a sterilized jar.
STEP 4: In a jar or mixing container, combine the coconut milk (or oat milk) and apple brown sugar syrup.
STEP 5: Using a frother, mix the apple sweet cream ingredients until the cream reaches a frothy consistency. If it is very thick, add 1-2 tbsp of oat milk or soy milk until it reaches a thick but pourable consistency.
STEP 6: Add a handful of ice to your serving glass. Pour the chai tea concentrate over the ice.
STEP 7: Add the oat milk over the chai tea concentrate, adjusting the amount to taste. Give it a gentle stir to blend the tea and milk.
STEP 8: Gently spoon or pour the apple sweet cream over the top of the tea. Enjoy!
